Rearcross U-12's kicked off their new campaign with an entertaining pre-season friendly against Murroe AFC at the away venue on Wednesday evening and came from behind to record a well merited 3-1 win. Rearcross turned in a sterling defensive performance throughout with Paul Nolan and Sean Malone to the fore and ably assisted by Cian O'Toole and Brian Nolan. Murroe made the brighter start but were kept at bay with well timed challenges from Sean Malone and Paul Nolan, however the hosts eventuatlly got the breakthrough on 18 minutes when a free kick inside the box was scrambled to the net with the credit going to Eoin Madigan. Rearcross re-grouped as Patrick Dawson and Jack Morrissey combined forcing a corner kick in the process which was subsequently cleared. Cathal Kennedy came to the rescue for Rearcross with a superb point blank save when a goal looked certain and then Murroe came close again with a headed effort. The visitors got back level two minutes before the break when good work by Patrick Dawson saw Eoin Sheldon get behind the Murroe defence to prodd between the posts. The last action of the half saw Cathal Kennedy save again to leave it all square at the break. Rearcross turned in a fine second half performance and signalled intent with an Andy Kinnane shot that wasn't far away three minutes after the restart which was followed with a well worked effort from Patrick Dawson. The Rea boys were growing in stature as the half wore on an took a deserved lead with nine minutes remaining when Patrick Dawson did well on the left before Stephen Rochford's shot looped over Jim Roulston in the Murroe goals. Murroe didn't give up though and Colm Lenihan produced a superb save to turn the ball outside the post three minutes later. Andy Kinnane wrapped it up for Rearcross after drilling to the corner of the net from in front of goals six minutes from time to seal a fine win for the visitors.
